Income concentration in United States has changed along with the spending patterns of the individuals. This has induced and widened the pay gap between the wealthy and the middle class. One individual’s demand is now another’s necessity which is why the income ladder is hard to grab now. Although financial aid by the government does help the middle class students to acquire good quality education, but this is not enough as the wealthy can get what they want even if they possess lesser prospects. According to the presidential address by President Obama, the founders of the great nation rejoiced on the fact that America will be a country where hard work will be paid off and where responsibility will be rewarded. America will be a country where anyone can make it if they tried no matter what background; however, this address is countered by the idea that the vicious circle of income inequality is growing. This means that the proportion of the citizens that never actually make it up to the wealthy ladder and have to remain in rags will continue to grow. Theodore Roosevelt, while delivering his speech at The New Nationalism brought out the idea that hard labor should be rewarded by good income and the uplift of humanity is based on the provision of all the rights of equal payment to the common man.
